Cycling routes of Bologna
Surrounded by hills, Bologna displays its medieval soul in its elegant palaces, its evocative churches, and its characteristic ‘Portici’; the covered, arcaded, sidewalks which stretch along the city’s streets for almost 40 km.
Bologna, European Capital of Culture in 2000, has been declared by UNESCO in 2006 to be the first “Creative City of Music” in Italy and the second in Europe.
The cultural heart of the city is nowadays the Arts’ Workshop, a part of the city full of history and charm, formerly the city’s river port which, in an area of over 100,000 square metres, brings together MAMBO (the Museum of Modern Art), the Film Library, and two university buildings.
Bologna has a very old food tradition, the products of which can be tasted in its many restaurants, trattorias, osterias, food markets and shops.
