Cycling routes of Ferrara

The people of Ferrara and its province have cycling in their blood. From a very young age they learn to cycle, almost before they learn to walk. For years it was the only means of travelling around the vast Padana plains, and today it is a passion which no Ferrara inhabitant intends to give up. The Medieval, Renaissance and Jewish areas of the city are easy and safe to visit by bike, for the young and not so young alike. Riding around the city with typical bread from Ferrara in your basket, to nibble at along the way, you will feel perfectly at home, in harmony with your surroundings.
There are many places you can get to from Ferrara; an interesting itinerary variant would be the ‘Destra Po’ route, following the great river from Bondeno to the sea. Alternatively, you could cycle out to Cento, city of the Baroque painter Guercino; or towards Argenta and the Comacchio Valleys, where the land gradually gives way to the waters.
